Talent Magnets for young Indians

At cajobportal.com, we have a tough time helping our clients recruit CA Freshers.

in terms of generational demographic cohort, they belong to the millennial segment

Positions are tough to close. “Offer to joining” ratio is low

Because youngsters expect the moon. A great brand to work for, a fast growth and rich roles ( maybe M&A, management consulting, Investment Banking, Private Equity or Finance Leadership Programs).

Plus they want to create an impact, leave a “dent on the universe”

Of course, there are such roles as well but how many? What about the rest

To tell them that they need to do Fund Accounting at a Asset Management Company at 7 lacs p.a. is sacrilege

This generation has grown up with a sense of entitlement – they have been the “Little Emperors” ; a  lot of whom were single kids of double-income professional parents; with doting grand-parents

In school, they were given grades instead of marks, because we wanted them to feel good ; they got participation certificates for being last in the race, because we wanted them to feel good

Its the generation that has grown up using Facebook and Instagram likes as its addictive source of dopamine. Thus, for them, its essential that they have a life that’s worth portraying on their social media timelines – latest brands, Europe holidays, jazzy car

For them, its been a life of instant gratification – swiping a Tinder for a date, ordering on an Amazon and Swiggy ; everything comes so quickly

Does the real corporate world have enabling mechanisms that can continue to make them feel special ? Or will entry into the workplace significantly jolt their sense of self-esteem

Since they are your future CXOs, you must be careful about handling their bunch of emotions

Are your Talent Magnets geared for recruiting and retaining them

What do you think?

Thanks & Regards!!
